Bookopoly!

What is Bookopoly?

Bookopoly is a year long read at your own pace reading program. There are eight ‘properties’, but in this case reading sections: book, author, title, cover, genre, setting, suggestions, and other. For example the book section contains 3 spaces: 200 pages or less, 400 pages or more, and an eBook or Audiobook.

Registration is required. Stop by the Gorham Public Library to sign up and receive your Bookopoly Board and Record Pages.

How to Play

  1. Use one or two six sided dice. Roll the dice then move from the “read” square to the rolled number of spaces. Note: Dice are not supplied.
  2. Read a book that fits the requirement. Then roll the dice again and move from the spot you just finished. We recommend keeping track with the Bookopoly Record Pages. For example some people use a numerical count on which books they read. If they land on foreign author, put a 1 before the title, then if they land on the begins with ‘g’ square they would put a 2 before that book title. Please note books do not have to be from the Gorham Public Library to count towards sections. Nor do you have to be a GPL patron to participate. Due to the prize we will not be allowing children to participate but books read with children can count towards sections
  3. Once you finish a property section for example you have read all three book spaces. Stop by at the Gorham Public Library to have a staff member initial the record page. Then fill out a submission slip for our Bookopoly mystery prize!
  4. Continue until the record pages are completed or time runs out. December 12th, 2024 will be the last day to bring in record pages for submission slips. The winner of the drawing will be announced December 16th, 2024.
