Program Overview
Read a book (any book, you can repeat books) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before they start kindergarten.
How to Participate
Read with your child. Studies have shown that reading with your child provides a great opportunity for bonding. Reading together is fun and will create life-long memories. Stop by the Gorham Public library to color a monkey helper. They will climb the 1000 book tree each milestone you reach.
Keep track of the titles of the books you read. Either in a spiral notebook or with one of the reading log sheets below. At each set of 100 books stop in at the Gorham Public Library to celebrate.

Who can Participate in the Program?
Any child from birth until he or she enters kindergarten can participate.
How long does the program take?
The program can take anywhere from a few months to a few years. This is a self-paced program so you get to choose how often you read together.
